The vast majority of patients experiencing menopause don't get the quality of care they deserve. Upliv, a joint effort between Aegis Ventures and Northwell Holdings, aims to solve this problem by helping patients access specialized care and guidance.

Building a virtual care platform to empower menopause patients
Menopause is a highly individualized experience. The Upliv platform was developed to support women throughout their unique journey–before, during, and after menopause—by developing holistic care plans tailored to each individual's experience.

To complement the patient app, we created an admin portal that enables document storage and sharing as well as synchronous messaging with patients.
Continuous iteration & improvement
Throughout our work with Upliv, we conducted in-depth user research to create rich personas and value metrics, ensuring the voice of the patient was represented as product and feature decisions were made. From wireframes to prototypes to the MVP and beyond, implementing these insights at each stage was vital to servicing Upliv’s first cohort of users.

With testing, we learned that users needed more hands-on guidance during the onboarding process, so we created a checklist that would help them plan and prioritize upcoming tasks.

We also uncovered what patients care about when choosing a physician, helping us decide which details to highlight in doctor bios.

To capture data and analyze the onboarding funnel performance, we built analytics tooling to help Upliv make evidence-based decisions and improvements.

Having invested $8.4 million in seed funding, Aegis Ventures and Northwell are committed to helping patients make more informed decisions throughout the menopause journey.
At the conclusion of their pilot program serving a small cohort of Northwell nurses, Upliv plans to expand their offerings with an enterprise-wide rollout.
